The world's largest clean energy corridor: Guarding the Yangtze River
Date: 2026-01-21
Comprised of six mega cascade hydropower stations, the world's largest clean?energy corridor plays a significant role in flood prevention and freshwater supply. Since 2021, the cascade reservoirs have conducted six flood control operations, successfully intercepting approximately 34.2 billion cubic meters of floodwater. Meanwhile, it serves as a vital lifeline, having provided water downstream with a total volume exceeding 153 billion cubic meters within a period of over 530 days. To put that into perspective, this total volume is equivalent to the capacity of six Poyang lakes. Through the coordination of these six reservoirs, the corridor stands as the definitive backbone protecting the Yangtze?River Basin.
